About Us

Starting from humble beginnings, the idea of Vairion began during the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic. My grandfather owned a dental clinic in White Bear Lake, MN then known as Dr. Crandall and Associates (DCAA). When he passed, the clinic was inherited by his daughter, my mother, Anna Shelander. She maintained and even exceeded her father’s legacy of following current research ensuring their practice was cutting-edge. When the clinic had to close due to the quarantine to mitigate the spread of the virus, she and I were hard at work. Since the beginning of the pandemic, public anxiety towards healthcare clinics (especially dental) has drastically worsened.

As a result, we decided that our efforts should be focused on returning that feeling of safety and security to not only the patients but the practitioners as well. We also wanted to ensure that in the event of an unforeseeable future outbreak, healthcare clinics and their staff would not risk unemployment or be put in danger.

Thus, Vairion’s cutting-edge Aerosol Containment system was born. Our system was designed with a focus on quality, efficiency, ease of use, and sustainability. Vairion’s first model was subsequently installed in DCAA. However, we weren’t satisfied. So, we went back to the drawing board. To truly achieve safer air, we wanted to create the most powerful Aerosol Containment system feasible, and we did just that with Vairion’s Ventulus series. The family of systems employs negative pressure ventilation known for it’s surgical applications to achieve a level of Aerosol Containment never before seen in dentistry. That being said, we are always working on improving our designs. Our goal is to eventually have our systems installed in every healthcare clinic to truly eliminate the risk of pathogen transmission through aerosols around the globe!
